Employment in Canada

When granted a student visa, a “No Work” condition will be imposed. However, to work while studying in Australia, students will need to wait until the commencement of their course and then apply for “permission to work”

Students may work up to 20 hours a week while their course is in session and full-time during vacations. Dependents, if also granted permission to work, can work up to 20 hours a week at all times.

There are several ways to find a casual or part-time job. The Student Employment Offices at the college or university is the best place to start. In addition to a physical listing of available jobs, the same jobs are usually placed on the institution’s website. Daily papers advertise employment opportunities, particularly on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and weekly local papers also contain jobs in the nearby area. Student can earn nearly $10 – $18 per hour.
